How it works

Buy a loaf of bread. Get a cleaner block.

One funded loop turns everyday spending into the neighborhood's own renewal.

  1. 1

    Members join at a level

Businesses and organizations choose a membership. Startups and micro businesses that lack funding join free when a partner church vouches for them.

  2. 2

25–30% goes back to the street

25–30% of what members pay each month funds visible zone work, like trash pickup, graffiti removal and repairs, carried out by partner churches.

  3. 3

    Churches spend locally

Each partner church receives a monthly stipend and must spend part of it with member businesses in its own zone.

  4. 4

    The money stays home

Member businesses are who the directory points people to, so the dollars that leave one pocket land in the next one down the block.

The no-loss guarantee

If reported directory spending is short, we refund the gap.

Over your first 12 months, we track the business the directory sends you. If it adds up to less than the dues you paid, we refund the difference, and your second year of membership is free.

Applies to businesses at the Growth and Pro levels. Organizations (CBOs, NGOs and PBOs) have their own earn-back income track instead. It does not apply to vendors and home-based businesses or to free Launch members. It is measured on spending reported through the program and is not a promise of any particular number of customers.

Questions

Straight answers.

Is Nexus a nonprofit?+

No. Nexus is a for-profit company. Members receive membership benefits, and Nexus commits 25–30% of what members pay each month to visible neighborhood work carried out by partner churches. Bridgewell Urban Group is the nonprofit that runs the program on the ground, and its registration is in process.

What does a membership cost?+

USA monthly rates: Starter $147, Growth $347 and Pro $597. Launch is free for startups and micro businesses that a partner church vouches for. On an annual plan you pay for ten months and get twelve. Kenya members pay in KES.

What is the free Launch level, and who qualifies?+

A one-page profile site, a QR code for your marketing and a small contact list. Launch members are not listed in the neighborhood directory. It is for startups and micro businesses that are small and lack funding, and each one is vouched for by a partner church. Each partner church can vouch for up to 4 startups. Free members do not receive the no-loss guarantee or church stipend spending.

Who gets the no-loss guarantee?+

Businesses at the Growth and Pro levels. Over your first 12 months we track the business the directory sends you; if it adds up to less than the dues you paid, we refund the difference and your second year is free. Organizations (CBOs, NGOs and PBOs) have their own earn-back income track instead. It does not apply to vendors and home-based businesses or to free Launch members. It is measured on spending reported through the program and is not a promise of any particular number of customers.

How do the levels work?+

Every level unlocks a bigger set of tools, and the table above shows exactly what each one includes. As your business grows you can move up to a higher level.

What is the Square Mile program?+

A funded system that turns a church and the businesses around it into one connected zone. Churches receive a monthly stipend, with a set directory portion they must spend with member businesses and a separate outreach portion for their own zone; member businesses pay for a membership that includes working products and a directory listing; and part of every membership funds visible neighborhood work like trash pickup and graffiti removal.

Do churches pay to join?+

Churches that join before December 31, 2026 are founding partners. We confirm a founding church's rate in writing at enrollment, whatever churches that join later are charged. The directory listing is part of the membership and is not an extra fee.

Where does the money go?+

Between 25% and 30% of what businesses pay each month goes into the program fund, which pays for visible work in the neighborhood, carried out by partner churches in their zones.

Where does the program's funding come from?+

From for-profit sources: Alliance Capital Reserve's capital and the fees members pay for their digital products and services packages, a portion of which supports the program. That money supports Bridgewell Urban Group and the partner churches carrying out the work in each zone. Partner churches report each month how their directory and outreach budgets were spent.
